Chelsea beat Derby County 3-1 in their Capital One Cup quarterfinal with help from another fine performance from Cesc Fabregas, who seemed to be just about everywhere during the match. Referee Jonathan Moss found this out the hard way.
With Chelsea up 1-0 late in the first half, Fabregas smashed into the back of Moss in the middle of the pitch, sending the official tumbling.
A short time later, Fabregas was the one helping out someone else who was knocked down when teammate Kurt Zouma suffered a scare after a clash of heads with Petr Cech (bringing new meaning to the phrase “Cech yourself before you wreck yourself”). Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta helped carry out the stretcher for Zouma after noticing that the people actually tasked with that job were moving slower than they would’ve liked.
Cesc joked about the incident after the match…
Through to the semis. @CesarAzpi and I had a double job tonight… #COC pic.twitter.com/D78uq27Z8T

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
I wonder if the FA/League will investigate the ref steamrolling.. that looks intentional or at least intentionally clumsy..
