Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made a habit of publicly declaring himself to be God (in multiple languages), but it turns out he proclaims his messiah status behind closed doors, too.
In the new issue of FourFourTwo magazine, PSG midfielder Marco Verratti explains how Zlatan eased former manager Carlo Ancelotti anxiety with the Ligue 1 title on the line.
“Before winning the 2012/13 league title, we were getting ready to play against Lyon,” Verratti explains. “Carlo Ancelotti was a bit tense, so Ibra approached him and asked him if he believed in Jesus. Ancelotti said yes, so Ibra told him: ‘Good, so you believe in me. You can relax!’ Zlatan is like this – he has a lot of self-confidence. This helps him to be a great player.”
PSG won their final three matches of that season to win the title by a 12 point margin and Zlatan scored three goals in the final two matches, giving him 30 for the campaign. Upon winning his first Ligue 1 title, he promptly turned all of PSG’s Gatorade into wine and was miraculously able to slap each of his teammates with just two fish.
football world would have been little bit boring without zlatan
