Roma fans made their feelings known about their club’s current form by walking out during their Europa League match against Fiorentina earlier in the week, but now Milan fans have gone a step further by starting their own boycott before kickoff.

Prior to Milan’s Serie A match against Cagliari, ultras hung banners in the empty Curva Sud that read “GAME OVER — insert coin & #saveacmilan — This is the end.”

Going into this match, Milan sat 10th in the Serie A table amidst rumors of owner Silvio Berlusconi selling off shares in the club and CEO Adriano Galliani saying that manager Pippo Inzaghi must do well over the next 11 matches to retain his job.

The supporters who usually occupy the Curva Sud posted a message on their website bemoaning owner Silvio Berlusconi’s secrecy about his intentions for the club and asking fellow fans not to attend the match or buy official merchandise in order to send a message.

Sadly, when your club’s owner is a man who thinks transparency is nothing more than the preferred style of lingerie worn by guests at his pool parties, this type of action might not get its desired response.
