Just as he put his hands on the A-League trophy to present it to Melbourne Victory after their 3-0 win against Sydney FC in the Grand Final, 84-year-old FFA chairman Frank Lowy fell off the stage. The joy of the moment quickly turned to fear as he players looked down at the billionaire, unsure what to do.
Lowy was helped up, though, and looked over by paramedics before making his way back on the stage to complete the trophy presentation as planned.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Lowy, who was booed at Melbourne’s AAMI Park along with other FFA officials when he first came out, only suffered a sore shoulder in the tumble.
Nice to see that the one guy felt compelled to save the trophy instead of the 84-year-old who nearly broke his neck. Priorities.
