PSG beat second division side Auxerre 1-0 in the Coupe de France final to complete the country’s first ever domestic quadruple, having also won the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de la Ligue, and the Trophee des Champions. Though Zlatan Ibrahimovic was prevented from scoring himself, leaving him three goals shy of Pauleta’s club record 109 career goals at the end of the season, he was still downright giddy over the achievement.
Before the match, a brief interview with Zlatan was posted to his Instagram account and one of the questions addressed the possibility of this result.
Q: PSG can win the fourth title this season, a French quadruple that no team ever has won. PSG is having the best season of all times, but how does it score in Zlatan history?
Zlatan: Very high. If we win the match then we have made history and that’s why I came to PSG.
First of all, “Zlatan history” is something that needs to be taught in all schools. Each and every one of them. Secondly, just by pure numbers this matches his biggest trophy haul for a single season. During his one season with Barcelona, he won La Liga, the Supercopa de Espana, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. But the Champions League trophy still eludes him. The final chapter of Zlatan history will not be complete until he conquers it.
