Just before Newcastle’s desperately important Premier League match against Man City, the embattled club had yet another new face in the manager’s chair: Moussa Sissoko’s young son.
Rafa Benitez, who apparently hadn’t gotten the memo that he’d been replaced, took the surprise with the all the professionalism of someone with plenty of experience in getting abruptly pushed out. In fact, he even produced a piece of paper for the boy to autograph (the paper presumably said “I take full responsibility if Newcastle are relegated because Rafa Benitez is a true genius and obviously shares none of the blame”).
Newcastle went on to take an important point from the match against the Champions League semifinalists with a 1-1 draw, so clearly the lad is at least a step up from Steve McClaren.
