Back in October, there were rumors that Carlo Ancelotti was set for a cameo role in the next Star Trek film, which was filming in Vancouver — where Ancelotti took up residence after getting sacked by Real Madrid at the end of the 2014/15 season. Though his IMDB page has yet to be updated to reflect this, we now have confirmation from the man himself.
Ancelotti told Sky Sports News: “I have a small part. I am a doctor on the Enterprise.”
Naturally, the interviewer’s first response was “Really? Why?”
To which the Italian explained: “It’s a long story. The husband of actress Zoe Saldana [who will play ‘Uhura’ in the move] is Italian and we have a good relationship with the family. They were in Vancouver to film the movie and they asked me to come and watch. I went, spoke to the director [Justin Lin] and he said ‘I’ll put you in a small part’.”
Sadly, Ancelotti says he was not required to wear Spock ears or any other prosthetics, but we can only assume that all of his lines were delivered through dramatic eyebrow maneuvering. And for this he will win the Oscar for best supporting actor.
Kickstarting his acting career wasn’t the only thing Ancelotti did while waiting to take over Bayern Munich next season, though. He also has a new book out titled “Quiet Leadership.” Presumably he did all of this to keep his mind off the fact that he won La Decima for Real Madrid and then was replaced by Rafa Benitez.
