Wales have surpassed even their own expectations at Euro 2016 by reaching the quarterfinals. This has caused considerable problems for several members of the squad — like defender Neil Taylor, who will be forced to miss a Beyonce concert he planned to attend in Cardiff on Thursday.
Taylor purchased the tickets for his wife’s birthday, not knowing that he would be facing Belgium in his nation’s biggest match in 58 years the following day. Needless to say, a tough decision had to be made.
From PA Sport:
“I just saw Beyonce, Cardiff, and thought that would be great,” said Taylor. “I didn’t even look at the dates.
“My wife said the tickets came through the post and said: ‘It’s the 30th Neil, that’s four days’ time.’ I said, ‘OK, that’s a bit of a problem.’
“She is probably coming to the game so will have to miss it as well. But she has been once before so she won’t be too disappointed.”
Meanwhile, teammate Chris Gunter has the lesser dilemma of possibly missing his brother’s wedding in Mexico next week should Wales reach the semifinals.
Gunter said:
“You speak to my parents and they’re fuming. The day of the wedding is the seventh, so I’m not sure what he’d do if we got to the final [on July 10]. He might be divorced by then!”
Whenever Wales’ Euro adventure comes to an end, we can only hope that Beyonce returns to Cardiff soon and on an evening that works for the squad.
