In December of last year, former Leicester striker and current Match of the Day present Gary Lineker made what seemed like a harmless joke about the likelihood of his old club holding onto first place in the Premier League over the final five months of the season.
YES! If Leicester win the @premierleague I’ll do the first MOTD of next season in just my undies.

But to Lineker delight/horror Leicester only went and won the title, prompting three months of everyone asking if he would go back on his tweet.
Proving to be a man of his word, Lineker began the first Match of the Day of the new season in Leicester branded boxers (the BBC probably refused to approve anything smaller and/or tighter). And to make the experience even worse, he had to talk about the club losing to Hull City.
Lineker did eventually put clothes on, but this should be a lesson that the ridiculous will happen in the Premier League and the internet doesn’t forget.
