Steven Gerrard apparently isn’t the only footballer vacationing in Los Angeles. Ten days shy of the anniversary of his World Cup winning goal, Mario Götze threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Dodgers-Mets game. And now we know that his arm isn’t quite as accurate his foot…

Here’s Freddy Adu scoring a goal in the Finnish fourth division
Freddy Adu (a.k.a. “American Pele” and a guy who used to date JoJo) signed with Finnish club Kuopion Palloseura in March. On Thursday, Adu, who is still somehow just 26 years old, scored for their reserve team in a fourth division match against Kings with a well placed free kick.

Hey #Pirlo, get a room! I’m sure Yankee Stadium has nice suites with privacy! #Amore pic.twitter.com/anC2PQhU31

Andrea Pirlo is reportedly on the verge of signing with New York City FC (and, by extension, Man City), so he was in attendance at their New York derby match against the Red Bulls with his family. And he was feeling saucy.
Real Salt Lake score with free kick routine that will sexually arouse Arsene Wenger
Looks like they may have practiced that before. #RSL https://t.co/go73YrY39a
— Major League Soccer (@MLS) June 28, 2015
Real Salt Lake opened the scoring in their 2-2 draw with Columbus by pulling off a well rehearsed and perfectly executed free kick routine that left their opponents befuddled. The ball Kyle Beckerman played off the initial free kick was just splendid.
Watch that on repeat and let all your troubles melt away.
Clint Dempsey is sorry, presumably that he didn’t tear up more than just the ref’s notebook
Following his three-match ban in MLS for tearing up the referee’s notebook during a U.S. Open Cup match, Clint Dempsey has now been banned from the U.S. Open Cup itself for two years or six matches, whichever is greater. Shortly after this punishment was announced, Dempsey tweeted a rather unconvincing apology.
Toronto FC goalkeeper takes a sip of a fan’s beer after win
Toronto FC came back to beat Montreal 3-1 and after the match, the winning side’s goalkeeper, Chris Konopka celebrated by high fiving a couple fans behind his goal and then taking a swig from one of their beers.
No wonder MLS has become such an attractive destination for players. Win and they get rewarded with high fives and free beer.
DTotD: Real Salt Lake player goes up for a header, forgets about existence of the post right in front of him
Ouch! Luke Mulholland goes up for a clearing header … and hits the near post instead. #RSLvSKC #MLSonFOX http://t.co/gwOtK19see
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 22, 2015
Real Salt Lake’s Luke Mulholland was so focused on the ball while going up for a header while basically standing inside the goal that he forgot that everything else existed and jumped directly into the goal post.
The only way he could have played this off well is if he got up and demanded that the ref show the post a yellow card.
This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
Clint Dempsey sent off after tossing and tearing up the ref’s book during crazy US Open Cup match
Clint’s right: Why tear up the record books when you could tear up the ref’s book instead? http://t.co/4lll2eeb79

U.S. beat Germany with late stunner, become Friendly Champions of the World
Proving that the scare they gave Germany in the last World Cup was no fluke, the United States beat Germany 2-1 in Germany to become the Friendly Champions of the World. Bobby Wood scored the winner in the 87th minute, giving the 22-year-old his second late winner in as many matches after doing the same to the Netherlands last in a 4-3 friendly win last week. And by the way, those happen to be his first two international goals, as well.
