Arsene Wenger is a broken man. Looking set to finish third or fourth in the Premier League for the 11th consecutive year in a trophyless season that will likely mark the first time in 21 years that Arsenal will finish behind Spurs, the club’s fans have been voicing their discontent even louder than usual in recent weeks.

Arsenal fans want everyone out as fourth-place dream proves elusive
Some fans want their club’s manager out, others want their club’s owner out, but Arsenal fans want both out. That was the message they committed to time-honored banner form and held aloft as they watched their team surrender a 2-0 lead to West Ham and finish with a 3-3 draw because they let Andy Carroll nearly double his goal tally for the season.
Arsene Wenger suggests the Premier League is the new Champions League
From the man who brought you the fourth place trophy concept comes a new thesis of defeatism that’s sure to provide Arsenal fans with zero comfort after losing to Barcelona in the Champions League. A club Wenger says are “more beatable than ever before.” Seriously.
From ESPN FC:
“Maybe the Premier League has become the Champions League for English teams. Because every game is so difficult in the Premier League that maybe we suffer a bit in Europe,” Wenger said. “Barcelona can walk through their games before they play against us. They played on Saturday afternoon with a team that after 20 minutes was 3-0 up. … They can select a little bit how much they go for it. In the Premier League you cannot.”
If a Premier League club had Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez at their disposal, maybe they could walk through their games, too.
But yes, Arsene, the reason Arsenal haven’t gotten past the Champions League round of 16 in seven years is because Watford might be better than Espanyol and not because your injury plagued team consistently underperforms while you hoard more cash than any other club in the world.
If Spurs finish ahead of Arsenal this season, look for Wenger to say something even lamer like “everyday we’re alive is like finishing in first place.” Might as well call him the limbo king because he keeps pushing that bar lower and lower.
Barcelona prepare for Arsenal by training against random children
Barcelona took two big away goals from the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Arsenal, leaving them in good position going into Wednesday’s second leg. Still, preparations must be made and proper training must be done to ensure that they are ready to finish off their opponents. With that in mind, Barcelona trained against three children who invaded their session on Tuesday.
Arsenal summed up in one picture
Watford beat Arsenal 2-1 in the FA Cup sixth round, ending the Gunners’ run of 15 consecutive victories in the tournament, which has brought their only trophies in the last two seasons.
If it continued… (Spurs v Arsenal)
It was mutually assured disappointment in the north London derby as both Arsenal and Spurs proved yet again that they can’t win when it matters most. Despite being outplayed for much of the first half, Arsenal took a 1-0 only to have everything crumble around them in a span of seven minutes as Francis Coquelin was sent off before Spurs scored twice.
With a move into first place seeming inevitable, Spurs then conceded an equalizer to 10-man Arsenal in the 76th minute. To the delight of Leicester, the match ended 2-2, which means we really must ask “What if it continued?”
Louis van Gaal takes a dive during argument with fourth official
Beating Arsenal 3-2 thanks to a second brace in as many first-team appearances from 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, Louis van Gaal broke free from the eternal sadness that has kept him affixed to the bench for much of this season as if he was afraid that Jose Mourinho would take his seat if he dared to stand up.
Love and football: A Valentine’s Day in pictures
It’s Valentine’s Day and love is in the air at stadiums around the world. In some places, even a bit too much. This is what happens when football is played on Valentine’s Day…
MLS All-Star opponent decided with bad acting
And the 2016 @ATT #MLSAllStar opponent is… https://t.co/r5hdaKxc0U
— Major League Soccer (@MLS) February 11, 2016
MLS announced that their All-Stars will face Arsenal this summer and to coincide with the news, the league put out a video showing how the fixture came together starring a collection of MLS and Arsenal players.
Highlights include:
-A dig at Spurs (who lost 2-1 to the All-Stars last summer)
-Kaka requesting that Mesut Özil be reminded that he owes him dinner
-Thierry Henry’s eyebrows
-Poor phone conversation synching
-Arsene Wenger’s climactic cameo
No one here is going to win an award for their acting ability (not even a fourth-place trophy), but that’s part of what makes it enjoyable. Good fun.
If it continued… (Arsenal v Chelsea)
Arsenal found a way to lose to Chelsea yet again, extending their scoreless streak in league matches against the Blues to over nine hours in the process. An 18th-minute Per Mertesacker red card and a 23rd-minute Diego Costa goal proved too much for them to overcome, even though Chelsea made it look like it was 10v10 in the second half. Given this near even battle between a club having a terrible season and a club that only plays like they are when they get too close to first place, we had to ask “What if it continued?”
