Mesut Ozil invites newlyweds to Arsenal match after groom’s Ozil wedding toast

A groom played the old switcheroo with his wedding reception toast, making it sound like he was saying wonderful things about his new wife and then revealing that he was actually talking about Mesut Ozil. Somehow, the couple didn’t immediately get a divorce.

To reward the groom’s bravery and the bride’s good humor, Mesut Ozil himself announced on Twitter that he would congratulate them in person and bring them to an Arsenal match.

Bermondsey Millwall Den and other egregious football themed baby names

Millwall fan Mike Bloomfield decided to name his newborn son Bermondsey Millwall Den Bloomfield without telling his wife (“Hey honey, you know that child you carried inside your body for nine months and then expelled in an unimaginably painful experience? Yeah, I gave it a ridiculous name behind your back! Love youuuuuu!”). For those who have no idea what any of those words mean, Bermondsey is the district of London in which Millwall play and The Den is their stadium.

Arsenal players trolled by children, Per Mertesacker proves untrollable

Following the brilliance of Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal’s match commentary, Arsenal’s YouTube channel has struck gold once again. This time, the players were the marks as children were tasked with subjecting them to uncomfortable interviews.

Jack Wilshere, Per Mertesacker, Bellerin, and Calum Chambers first had to deal with their younger interviewers’ disappointment that they weren’t Aaron Ramsey or Mesut Ozil. Bellerin, in particular, wasn’t too empathetic. Then came some tough trivia questions. Well, they were supposed to be tough, but Mertesacker certainly didn’t think so, as he surprised his prankster with the answers.

Wilshere, meanwhile, just looked like he wanted to headbutt the kid questioning him.

Don’t mess with Mertesacker. He knows his African capitals.

Arsenal’s substitutes for injured players are also getting injured now

It was all going so well for Arsenal. After losing their first two Champions League matches, they bounced back to claim four consecutive victories, including decisive wins against Manchester United and Bayern Munich. This proved enough to restart talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League, but then came their Capital One Cup round of 16 match against second-division Sheffield Wednesday.
