Jordi Alba gets smacked in the head by linesman’s flag, Arda Turan fights back

If Diego Costa and Cristiano Ronaldo get charged with violent conduct for kicking people, then this linesman should get charged for smacking Jordi Alba in the head with his flag during the second leg of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey tie. That’s assault with a deadly weapon. Jordi Alba needs to lead a “#DisallowLinesmanViolence” campaign. Read more

Sister Lucia Caram, an Argentine nun living in Catalonia loves FC Barcelona and, of course, Lionel Messi. This love is well known. In 2013, she told Mundo Deportivo that “not supporting Barca is a sin.” Though she describes the club as “a way of being, acting, living, thinking” and the embodiment of “fair play and humility,” she clearly has a sense of humor about football and doesn’t shy away from tongue in cheek comments, either.

And it is in that spirit that she boarded the Banter Bus and tweeted “Cristiano: Golden ball or fist?” after Cristiano Ronaldo got himself sent off during Real Madrid’s match against Cordoba on Saturday.

Leo Messi says he has “no intention” of leaving Barcelona, ruins everything for rumor merchants

First, Barcelona had to go and disrupt the storyline of “Barca are over (for real this time!)” by beating Atletico 3-1 with goals from Neymar, Lionel Messi AND Luis Suarez. Then, after the match, Messi ruined the most pervasive story of the January transfer window by going on Barca TV and stating unequivocally that everything printed about him simultaneously trying to leave the club and run it as an iron-fisted dictator is total bullshit.

Several likely explanations for Lionel Messi following Chelsea on Instagram

Lionel Messi’s official Instagram account is now following Chelsea FC’s official Instagram account. This is somehow both important news and evidence of something. David Moyes politely sticks it to everyone after beating Barcelona

David Moyes, a once widely respected football manager who unwittingly signed up to become a clown pinata when he took charge of Manchester United, claimed a sliver of redemption with relegation threatened Spanish side Real Sociedad by beating Barcelona 1-0. He even managed to get Barca to score the match’s only goal against themselves (Jordi Alba in the second minute).

As the world sang his praises for the first time in a long while, Moyes was rightly feeling pretty wonderful after the match. But being the good sport that he is, he still took the time to shake hands with several key Barcelona players. Here’s what he said as he did so…

The dystopian future in which Xavi is Barcelona manager

Xavi recently expressed his desire to follow in Pep Guardiola’s footsteps and become Barcelona manager once his playing career comes to an end. Though this might seem like a natural evolution for the brilliant midfielder who has been with the club since the age of 11, handing this kind of power to someone who so wholeheartedly believes that the Barcelona Way is the One True Path could actually destroy civilization as we know it.

And how would this horror unfold? Behold the prophecy and heed this warning…

The power, the fury and the hugs: Zlatan’s return to the Camp Nou in pictures

Like a tornado of bitterness and resentment trying to disguise itself as a friendly typhoon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to Barcelona on Wednesday with PSG for the Champions League match that would decide the winner of Group F. Though he only spent one season with Barca, the events of that period were the basis for the most vitriolic passages of his autobiography and wounds that seem to still haven’t totally healed four years later. And so, all eyes were on Zlatan during the match. Just as he likes it.
