If you enjoy doing dumb stuff at profession football matches, you’ll want to steer clear of Germany because the German Federal Court of Justice has given clubs the ability to sue fans for their wrongdoing during matches. And Bundesliga side Cologne are making use of this newfound ability in an effort to recoup some of the money they had to pay out as a result of an idiot injuring seven people with fireworks during a 2014 match against Paderborn.

Hoffenheim v Cologne was one big gum fight
It started with Hoffenheim’s Eduardo Vargas and Philipp Ochs putting Vargas’ chewed up gum behind the ear of the player who failed to keep the ball in the air during the pre-match warm-ups. This is gross enough.
But late in the match, Cologne’s sporting director, Jörg Schmadtke got in on the gum play by throwing his at Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann.
From the Guardian:
The incident happened after Hoffenheim equalised in the 90th minute through Kevin Volland while Cologne’s Lukas Klünter was lying injured on the pitch. Schmadtke and the coach, Peter Stöger, jumped up in fury before the former took a chewing gum out of his mouth and threw it in the direction of the 28-year-old Nagelsmann.
The chewing gum missed but Schmadtke still apologised afterwards. “Yes, I threw it. It was a reaction. I have already phoned up the Hoffenheim sporting director, Alexander Rosen, and apologised. I am sorry.”
Everyone just needs to keep their gum in their mouths from now on. Deal?
Cologne escorted onto pitch by rifle carrying child soldiers
The “crazy days” of Cologne’s carnival season are approaching, so the club broke out the special kit they unveiled back in October for their match against Stuttgart. The players weren’t the only ones in festive gear, though.
Cologne unveil new Karneval kit with faux shirt tassels
Perhaps inspired by the success Bavarian clubs have had with their special Oktoberfest kits, Cologne have now launched a…unique…new strip for their city’s annual carnival, which begins in November.
Cologne’s mascot projected onto the Hoover Dam for strange new world record
Because the world is a strange, nonsensical place, Cologne’s crest and mascot, Hennes, were projected onto the Hoover Dam (yes, the one in the United States) to set a new Guinness World Record for largest ever projection.
But of all the things to project onto the Arizona landmark, why this? Was it part of a court settlement after Hennes was assaulted by a coworker earlier this season?
From Bundesliga.com:
Covering an area of 39,000 square metres, the logo covered practically the whole surface of the infamous American landmark. Cologne-based PR agency Oliver Schrott Kommunikation (OSK) chose the Köln logo to experiment the new powerful lighting system installed, thanks in no small way to the affinity to the club of many of the firm’s employees.
Regardless of the reason, it’s just nice to see Hennes finally get the respect he deserves.
Cologne’s Jonas Hector beats five defenders to score tremendous solo goal
Jonas Hector scored the deciding goal in Cologne’s 3-2 win against Hoffenheim on Sunday, weaving through and jumping over a total of five defenders before beating the keeper with a deflected shot.
If that was the best individual goal of the weekend, then Atalanta had the best team goal when German Denis’ overhead shot was set up by a backheel and a header.
Cologne’s Anthony Ujah celebrates goal by assaulting a live goat
Anthony Ujah scored Cologne’s fourth goal in a 4-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt and he decided to celebrate with Cologne’s live goat mascot, Hennes. But instead of doing something nice like petting the goat or giving it a high five, Ujah went right for the horns and tried to pull Hennes back onto its hind legs.
Schalke coach hit in the head by a lighter thrown from the stands
Schalke assistant coach Sven Hubscher was left with a bloody forehead after taking a direct hit by a metal lighter thrown from the stands during his side’s 2-1 loss to Cologne. Video of the incident shows that the lighter broke apart on impact.
