Croatia ban their own fans from Euro qualifiers to prevent more racist incidents

Despite sitting at the top of Euro 2016 qualifying group H, Croatia fear they could be dumped from the competition in their next match. This fear isn’t based in competitive concerns, though. It’s rooted in the growing number of racist incidents perpetrated during their games. So they’ve taken the extreme step of banning their own fans from their next three away matches in an effort to send the message that this behavior has to stop.

The LA Galaxy will host New York City FC this Sunday, so to prepare for the match, they decided to make fun of their fellow aging European talent collectors.

NYCFC gave the Galaxy plenty to work with by allowing their big three — David Villa, Andrea Pirlo, and Poku Frank Lampard — to be photographed wearing white tank tops and looking greasy by New York Magazine for some reason. So the Galaxy recreated this shoot with Dan Gargan, Alan Gordon, and Nacho Maganto.

A look inside Xabi Alonso and Thiago’s German lessons

Xabi Alonso and Thiago have both been with Bayern Munich for a while now and as the video above shows, their ability to speak German is coming along nicely.

In this lesson, we learn why Xabi’s shots are so powerful, that he knows a thing or two about Oktoberfest, and that if this video was about Carlos Tevez’s attempts to learn English, it would just be five minutes of an empty chair and a disappointed teacher.

In conclusion, Xabi Alonso is very handsome.

Sky Sports News reports on Charlie Austin’s dick ligaments

QPR’s Charlie Austin is in the middle of an increasingly desperate search for a new club before the transfer window shuts despite finishing as the Premier League’s fourth highest scorer last season. And his pursuit has been dealt a blow by West Ham owner David Sullivan, who claimed that his club wouldn’t sign Austin in part because the striker “has no ligaments in his knee.”

Dog on the pitch delights crowd during Chilean match

Last weekend’s match between Cobresal and Colo Colo in the Chilean Primera Division featured an uninvited participated who once again proved that people always prefer to watch dogs run around than watch humans do anything.

With the score even at 1-1 during the first half, a dog decided that the pitch was a good place to sit down and relax. This halted the match while players and staff tried to chase the dog away, but this pup wasn’t having any of that. Instead, it ran the length of the pitch, evading lazy attempts at capturing it as the crowd gleefully shouted “ole!” each time.

Colo Colo went on to win 3-2, but that didn’t matter because the dog was the best part of the day.

Raheem Sterling is selling his Michael Jackson room (and the Merseyside house it’s a part of)

(Rightmove)
(Rightmove)

Since Raheem Sterling is a Man City player now, he no longer has a need for the four-bedroom Southport home he lived in during his time with Liverpool. Mostly because he can now afford to buy a 10-bedroom home anywhere he wants.

Anyway, he’s put his old house (which is near Royal Birkdale Golf Club) up for sale at a list price of £1.5 million. And one of the things you get for that money is a Michael Jackson room. That is — a space with a bar, dance floor, DJ station, and Michael Jackson memorabilia on the walls. Including a pair of legs mounted over a couch.

Louis van Gaal has set the bar really low for Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has gotten off to a horrid start to the season, failing to score in Man United’s first three matches and even struggling to get a shot on target. He was virtually invisible during the club’s 3-1 Champions League playoff win against Brugge and was substituted in the 84th minute for Marouane Fellaini, who scored in added time.

After the match, Louis van Gaal gave his assessment of his captain (via ESPN FC):

“He had a shot on target, so I’m happy.”

“He managed to eat all his vegetables at dinner, so I’m happy.”

“He put his shirt on the correct way, so I’m happy.”

“He remembered to flush the dressing room toilet after using it, so I’m happy.”

“He didn’t choke on his own saliva, so I’m happy.”

“He didn’t cause a tear in the space-time continuum, dumping us all into an alternate 2015, so I’m happy.”

If this is all it takes for the club’s star striker to satisfy Van Gaal, then why didn’t they keep Falcao?

A goalkeeper’s shame in three parts

Facing the LA Galaxy in the CONCACAF Champions League, Juan Jose Paredes experienced a regrettable moment that just kept getting worse.

The goalkeeper for Guatemalan club Comunicaciones condemned himself to this hellacious domino effect by getting his foot stuck in the turf just before making contact with the ball, causing it to roll towards Galaxy forward Alan Gordon. Paredes attempted to chase down his mistake, but this only gave Gordon the opportunity to nutmeg him and jump over the desperate keeper on the way to finally ending this horror by scoring on the empty net.

That gave LA their second goal in the first 10 minutes of the match. Gordon then scored again in the 54th minute to make it a 3-0 lead, but Paredes had mentally disassociated from his body at that point.
