Immediately after Argentina beat Jamaica 1-0 in the final round of the Copa America group stage, Reggae Boyz striker DeShorn Brown ran to grab his phone and took a selfie with Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi’s first Copa del Rey final goal was as stunning as Dani Alves’ haircut
Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the Copa Del Rey final between Barcelona and Athletic Bilboa with a typically spectacular solo goal in which he completely baffled four or five defenders along the way. He later help set up Neymar to score Barca’s second goal before halftime.
Meanwhile, Dani Alves decided that this was a proper occasion to present his personal tribute to the poop emoji.

Jerome Boateng’s congratulatory letter to Lionel Messi
Dear Leo,
Congratulations on beating us to reach another Champions League final. You caused me great embarrassment in the first leg of our semifinal, but I just wanted you to know that there are no hard feelings and I am honored to have shared the pitch with you once more.

This is apparently “Look At All The Cool Stuff I Have!” Week for professional footballers on social media. It started with Gerard Pique showing a portion of his shirt collection while cleaning out his closet. The first group of neatly arranged shirts showed that Pique has an eye for the superstars when swapping shirts after matches, as it contained the likes of Francesco Totti, David Beckham, and Ronaldinho.
Leo Messi dismantles Bayern, makes the Camp Nou explode with tremendous goal
It took him 77 minutes, but when Lionel Messi finally ended Manuel Neuer’s goalkeeping masterclass in the first leg of Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s Champions League semifinal, he set fire to the whole school.
Just three minutes after his opening goal, he did this — turning Jerome Boateng into a pile of dust and chipping Neuer to realize what he couldn’t quite do in the World Cup final last summer. But beyond that simplistic description of events, there are no words to fully capture what Messi did in that moment. Just watch.

Waiting for a ride home from school with Lionel Messi

In Washington, DC for Saturday’s friendly against El Salvador, the entire Argentina squad went to the Washington Wizards-Indiana Pacers NBA game on Wednesday night. This provided the opportunity for a truly delightful image: 5-foot-7 Lionel Messi shaking hands with 7-foot-7 former Wizards (then Bullets) center Gheorghe Muresan, the tallest player in NBA history.
The Wizards also presented Messi with the No. 10 jersey, eliciting mental images of the Argentine nutmegging opponents on the court with a basketball. And if you think Messi would be too small to compete in the NBA, remember that ex-Washington point guard Muggsy Bogues was just 5-foot-3. Read more
Leo Messi is the designated driver for the Clasico afterparty
Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Camp Nou and judging by Neymar’s post-match Instagram photo, the Barca players celebrated the result by putting on their most ridiculous clubbing attire and piling into Uncle Leo Messi’s minivan for a night on the town.
Dani Alves wore his gold shoes, Neymar a red leather jacket, Adriano had on a denim one with gaudy cuff flair, Rafinha decided to be a hitman, and Douglas was a cross between Carlton Banks and a nightclub owner. Then there was Messi, who looked like he was dressed by his mother — perhaps fitting since he has a tattoo of her face on his shoulder.
Anyway, it’s good to see that the boys had a designated driver for the evening. And that Uncle Leo isn’t just sitting home with his Lego collection.
