Chelsea’s defenders couldn’t agree on how to contain Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling in the firs leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal, so they decided to try out a few different things. For example, John Terry went with a fun new game called “surprise wrestling” in which he and Sterling formed some kind of malformed human centipede.

The madness of Wimbledon v Liverpool in pictures
League Two side AFC Wimbledon — the club built from the ground up by fans in 2002 after Wimbledon FC were relocated to become MK Dons — hosted Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in front of a record crowd of 4,785. Even without the requisite Magic of the FA Cup, the match was a reward for more than a decade of hard work and passion from a group of fans betrayed by the game they love who had the determination to turn that into something positive.
As a result, there was a unique atmosphere at Kingsmeadow even before kickoff. And it fueled a wonderful brand of madness that lasted until the final whistle. Let’s take a look…
Lukasz Fabianski scores on himself with impressive boomerang shot off Adam Lallana
Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been making artistic howlers for years now, but his performance against Liverpool (or in aid of Liverpool?) was truly inspired. With his side down 1-0 early in the second half, the former Arsenal keeper blasted the ball off of Adam Lallana’s body to score on the goal behind him.
Future News: Liverpool hoping to add new scapegoat in January

Santa and Jesus help Brendan Rodgers in his time of need
Since Santa Claus has to work on Jesus’ birthday, he decided to take him to the Liverpool-Arsenal match on Sunday. And since Jesus is apparently Brendan Rodgers’ biggest fan for some odd reason, he brought his “Brendan I’ve got your back!” sign to the game.

Swiss champions Basel held on for a 1-1 draw with 10-man Liverpool on Tuesday, eliminating the Reds from the Champions League after beating them earlier in the group stage. Following the match, a cartoon was posted to the club’s official Instagram account depicting a battered Liverpool player being carried away by a Chelsea player (whom Basel beat twice in last season’s Champions League group stage) and a Spurs player (whom Basel eliminated from the Europa League quarterfinals on penalties in 2012/13…before losing to eventual champions Chelsea in the semifinals). Brendan Rodgers’ most terrifying facial expressions
Going from second place in the Premier League and having Luis Suarez to eighth place and having Mario Balotelli is enough to put a strain on any manager’s grasp on sanity. If the facial expressions of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers are anything to go by, he seems to be taking this change in fortune especially hard, though. To illustrate this point (and ruin the rest of your life), here are some of his most terrifying facial expressions so far this season…
Football club holiday apparel that will make your eyes bleed
Louis van Gaal poses with Man United’s defenders.
Black Friday has claimed a fresh batch of souls, which means the holiday season has arrived. Never ones to sit out a shameless cash grab, football clubs have upped their seasonal merchandising efforts in order to ensure that they can make all the inevitably disappointing signings they want during the January transfer window. And the resulting apparel looks like gunk vomited up by an elf who mixed egg nog with gingerbread meth. Which is good news for us.
