DTotD: Pachuca defender pulls opponent down by his shorts to help win title
It’s the second leg of the Liga MX clausura final. Monterrey scored in the first half to pull even with Pachuca 1-1 on aggregate. In the 74th minute, Pachuca defender Aquivaldo Mosquera’s attempt at a clearance failed, giving Dorlan Pabon a clear chance on goal to take the lead. So desperation instantly takes over and Mosquera decides to take Pabon down by any means necessary. Which translates to pulling him down by his shorts.
Tigres manager has furious meltdown after Liga MX playoff elimination
The man you see in the video above shouting like a lunatic and storming out of his own press conference is Tigres manager Tuca Ferretti. He was freaking out because he likes to let female journalists ask questions first, but a male journalist spoke out of turn. But the root of his anger was the manner in which his team was eliminated from the Liga MX quarterfinals.
Tijuana’s Juan Arango gets away with biting opponent on the shoulder
Tijuana midfielder Juan Arango is best known for scoring magnificent goals, which he did again in his side’s 4-3 loss to Monterrey on Saturday. But it was his nibble on an opponent’s shoulder during the game that will change his reputation to that of a Luis Suarez wannabe.
Arango clearly took Jesus Zavala’s shirt between his teeth for reasons unknown, but it’s unclear if he actually pinched the skin. Regardless, Zavala fell to the ground and showed his shoulder to the referee in a scene reminiscent of what Giorgio Chiellini did after he was bit by Suarez at the World Cup.
Santos Laguna’s Diego Gonzalez celebrates goal by using his boot as a phone and roping in a bystander
Diego Gonzalez contributed to Santos Laguna’s 4-1 win over Monterrey with a lovely seal header and then he immediately began his descent into insanity. The Argentine midfielder midfielder untied his shoe, took it off and went behind the goal. He held the boot up to his head like a telephone before sharing the imaginary call with a ball boy (or small teammate?) on the other side of the advertising board.
It’s unclear what the person/mythical beast on the other end of the boot phone said to them. Maybe it was a wrong number.
