David Moyes politely sticks it to everyone after beating Barcelona
David Moyes, a once widely respected football manager who unwittingly signed up to become a clown pinata when he took charge of Manchester United, claimed a sliver of redemption with relegation threatened Spanish side Real Sociedad by beating Barcelona 1-0. He even managed to get Barca to score the match’s only goal against themselves (Jordi Alba in the second minute).
As the world sang his praises for the first time in a long while, Moyes was rightly feeling pretty wonderful after the match. But being the good sport that he is, he still took the time to shake hands with several key Barcelona players. Here’s what he said as he did so…
David Moyes knows tres Spanish words and isn’t afraid to use them
David Moyes has gotten off to a great start in his mission to save Real Sociedad from relegation with a draw, a win, and two clean sheets in his first two matches with the club. Confident that he is now the ruler of Spain, the Scot decided to show off his mastery of the local language (up to the number four) during a press conference.
“They have been training with me dos, tres, cuatro times,” Moyes said when speaking of his new club’s B team as if just saying the numbers in Spanish helped anyone at all understand what he was talking about.
And now, even though he’s getting results, people are once again laughing at him. I’m starting to think he likes it.
